After practicing as a psychotherapist for 20 years, I thought I had experienced almost everything. I have seen this in my own clients but until it happened to me, you just don’t know! I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Outwardly, I tried to be calm but inwardly, I was pretty tense! I didn’t know if I was going to make it through the night. I went to the Emergency Room. Upon getting in, time with the nurse followed by the doctor rendering his diagnosis, ” Your are not having a heart attack, its an anxiety attack!”. I came back with, “Really! I feel like like my heart is pounding out of chest and my head is going to pop!” They explained to me this was typical even though my blood pressure was slightly elevated. Even if I was calmed, I wanted it to end, A.S.A.P!

While you are in this condition, a chemical medicine will be adequate although it might not be the preferred option. I took it to break up the pattern. I didn’t know about herbology and at that time, I could not imagine that a traditional Chinese herbs for anxiety would have been just as effective. In this stressed out state, you want fast, potent relief.

All these symptoms, people have found relief, naturally with traditional Chinese herbs for anxiety:

19.  Trapped in your mind feeling

20.  feel the world on your shoulders frequently

This is a short list! You may perhaps list a 100 additional items. For the last 18 years, I have been dedicated to finding alternative medicine explanations and Chinese herbs for anxiety for the last 18 years that assist people through this transition.

Causation is well established. Once a sufficient amount of stress is presented to the physical-mental-emotional body, the prior mentioned conditions are probably going to surface. We all would do well to notice and take action. It is not enough to alleviate the symptoms but taking a break while we search for answers is an advisable strategy. Look after yourself, sleep (7-8 hours), exercise (4 times a wk.), be with nurturing people until you can equal the challenge you are dealing with. Eat food and take natural herbs that don’t add to the imbalance but rather help in re-establishing your center.

UNDERLYING PHYSICAL CONTRIBUTION TO ANXIETY DISTRESS

There are numerous reasons and its not always psychological. In truth, the majority of psychotherapists help their patients by appreciating the physical causation. Besides life stresses, physical depletion will release sensations that cause a person to experience helplessness. In Chinese medicine there are two areas of the body that are suspect for depletion:

Heart: the heart can become weakened, or energy deficient. This disorder where energy is not reaching the heart along with its connecting vessels can strain the organ. If the heart does not essential energy then like a car, it stalls, speeds up, slows down, uncontrollably. In this case, rest and energy needs to be re-established in the channels to the heart. When that happens, the chest area relaxes and wellbeing is at hand.Furthermore, once the heart steadies then the brain trails.

Kidneys: the kidneys may develop deficiency with less energy provided from the kidneys to the heart. Due to stress, overwork and emotional challenges, the adrenals follow. The kidneys are considered the seat of vitality, essence and foundation for energy. When the essence is interrupted then organs throughout the body suffer and synergistically, the heart pumps less blood. To compensate, the heart can pump harder, grow larger or become erractic due to the stressed depleted state. As above mentioned, rest is essential so kidneys restore and the body recharges.

The viewpoint that the explanation for all the menopause symptoms is due to an instability of hormones is a superficial understanding and requires a deeper insight.

Traditional Chinese Medicine viewpoint: Menopause is considered a weakened condition of the liver and qi (life force). When the energy and blood quality is deficient and obstructed then all body organs that depend on that blood are not able to function at their best. This condition causes the liver to overheat which rises through the body, wreaking havoc in its path. The heart, lungs, digestion, glands, throat, mouth & teeth, nose, eyes, ears, brain, skin and hair become heated and dried resulting in the body heat ailments. Additionally, When the liver isn’t filtering the blood then it progresses into a clotted and sluggish.

Because the body is deficient of life-giving body energy, quality filtered blood and diet, therefore the glands do not perform normally. Their glandular secretions can develop irregularly or immobilized altogether. Whereas the blood is filtered and nourished then the body’s organs thrive. Positively, the essence wakes up and normal function improves. The glandular functions, emit once again, assisting the body in its healthy function.

The physical body isn’t missing chemical hormones. The blood is clogged like sludge. Glands are not receiving/transmitting life-giving messages, timely and/or minimally!

So therefore why do we add or provide more hormones. Doesn’t that risk an overload of hormones? Remember when you were a teen and your hormones were super revved. You won’t want to chance of experiencing that again. You have adequate hormones. If you nourish your blood, keep fit, sleep, deal with stress, etc. Our hormones revive back and reenforces increased balance.

So if Chinese medicine knows the problem, then what is their solution to this weakened conditioneath

What Restores Usual Hormone Function? Traditional Chinese medicine has understood the core problem and remedies for over a thousand years! TCM has developed over 20 formulas for menopause. But which one is the best? To figure this out, its necessary to consult an adept Master Herbalist. While nearly all women fall into 6 main constitution types: 1) cold 2) damp 3) deficient 4) hot 5) dry and 6) excess

On the whole menopausal women benefit 95% of the time from Chinese herbs contained in Menopause Comfort. The exception occurs during the summertime. Particular women, who are more hot than the usual population, require a colder formula, Paramalin, to offset the surplus inner heat produced in the liver.

You can look at the top 10 menopause Chinese herbs, the most effective  menopause formula, listed in more depth, at Longevity Mountain.

Most of the menopause products are created based on 3 strategiess:

  • a single supplement/herb wonder
  • a combination of past researched supplements/herbs with an addition of the latest fad herb
  • in most cases a newbie manufacturer/distributer copies another company’s product that is selling well

The result is that it is difficult for the consumer to determine what works. So how do you know what works?

Anyone can create testimonials but long-standing, valid, reliable results are very difficult to manufacture. Even the research that is presented is not the full story but rather a spin on the research to move you to buy a particular product. In most cases, the manufacturer may truely believe they have a formula that will work based on misinformation on a herb’s benefits.

The right herbs for menopause will primarily 1) raise the body’s energy, 2) nourish the blood, 3) cool the body and 4) normalize the body’s thermostat. And indirectly, because the underlying imbalance is corrected, the menopause symptoms will begin to dissapate within 2 hours.

Most discoveries about herbs have come from Chinese herbal medicine but revealed to the American public in an incomplete manner. The American manufacturers share the info about an herb as a solution for everyone who has a particular symptom. Nevermind, all the body of Chinese medicine and theory that understands that there are different body types or constitutions that may accompany those symptoms. Menopause symptoms are characteristic of the hot constitution or body type which necessitates liver cooling.

Chinese herbs which have proven to be effective for hundreds of years on millions of patients. Chinese master herbalists comprehend, on a beginning level, how extensive Chinese medicine is and that through thousands of years of practice, further research is not necessary. Its essential to apply the right formula to the right constitution and symptoms, not just the symptoms. In addition, in order to discern this  relationship between body constitution and herb formulation, it is essential to choose the most knowledgeable practitioner.

A Practicing Master Herbalist Knows More About Herbs Than Any Other Profession?

A seasoned master herbalist (10 years+) who works with herbs every day is the best source for herb medicine. The time element is critical to allow the practitioner to get the kinks out and test his/her knowledge. What is taught in our traditional Chinese herbs and herb medicine schools is only a beginning knowledge and needs to be tested. Optimally, post-graduates should continue to extensive apprenticeship prior to being ready to remedy ailments with patients. Medical doctors rely on their Physician’s Desk Reference for information on herbs which is truely a beginning base source. A one herb or multiple herb formula is not going to work for all. The formula will probably work for a small percentage of the women with a similar body type but not the majority. For instance, the Chinese herb, Black Cohosh, has been exposed as unsuitable for menopause. the herb is rendered for feverous conditions. Still, American supplement manufacturers have found a way to exploit the misinformation supplied to the public and so the story continues. Never mind that its short term benefits decay in 2-3 weeks.A proven improvement with other homeostatic herbs would be to ingest bupleurum.

In summary, the best choice of herbs for menopause will take into consideration the woman’s constitution or body type when constructing a formula. In addition, herbs that have a track record for hundreds to thousands of years must be regarded as a superior choice over herbs with a minor history. I encourage everyone to seek a seasoned source in herbal medicine.
